Keep up with the HOT YRs this Summer!!

Howdy YRs!!

I hope you are all having a great week!  I know this has been a whirlwind of a week for me and many others.  There are a lot of events coming up that the HOT YRs are hosting or are involved in, so I wanted to make everyone aware of what we had coming up.   Here we go:
1.  Hutto Business Expo – June 25th at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Hutto will be having their annual Business Expo.  This will occur from 3:00 – 6:30 PM.  The WilCo Republican party has a booth at the expo, and is in need of volunteers.  Make sure to contact Bill Fairbrother at bill.fairbrother@gopusa.com to volunteer during the Expo.
2.  June Members Meeting – Our June members meeting will take place on Wednesday, 6/26/13 at 6:30 PM at the Homefield Grill in Round Rock, TX.  We will have a 30 minute social time at the beginning, some business to discuss, and then our guest speaker will be Karen Newton, with the Bexar County Republican Women. As a Patron Member of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and a Board Member of the Bexar County Republican Women’s Club, Karen Newton is one of the most active and respected Republican women in the San Antonio area. She is also the Founder of Ladies Who Lunch, a “secret” group of women who give a graduation gift to a deserving fiscally conservative high school graduate. She is a dear friend of mine, and I am so excited to have her come speak to us.
3.  July 4th Parade Float – July 4th, at the Round Rock July 4th Frontier Days, we will have a parade float in their parade.  Michael Smith’s truck will be our “float” and we are going to decorate it and get everything ready Wednesday evening, July 3rd, at Kristen and Michael Smith’s house, at 6:30 PM.  If you are not able to be in the float on July 4th, this is a great way to help participate in the event.  Please let me know if you are able to be in the truck on July 4th, or if you can help decorate the truck on July 3rd!!
4.  Young Republican National Federation Convention – From July 10 – 14, the Young Republican National Convention will be in Mobile, AL!  This event is open to all Young Republicans and Texas has open delegate slots still available for any Young Republican. If your interested in going as a TX Delegate, please let me know so I can inform our state chair and register at https://www.wepay.com/events/delegate-to-2013-national-yr-convention. For questions, please email Mark Brown at chairman@texasyoungrepublicans.com.
5.  Texas Young Republican Federation Convention – The 2013 Annual Texas Young Republican State Convention will be held in Austin, TX,August 9-11, hosted by the Austin Young Republicans. This convention will take place on the House Floor at the Capital!  Delegates from each club are appointed on a 1 to 7 ratio of members (1 delegate for every 7 members).  Important dates you need to know:  July 11th is the last day we can include new members on our roster, so make sure to convince anyone considering being a member to do so before then, and July 19th is the last day to register with the discounted hotel block rate.  Right now, we are 3 members away from getting 3 delegates!!  Please let me know via email if you are interested in attending the convention/being a delegate as the board will be making the decision for delegates during our July board meeting.  Also, if you are interested in running for a state position, please let me know so I can get you the information about all the positions, and help you out in that respect.  To learn more and stay updated on State Convention news by visiting the official Facebook Event page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/500348546683128, or by visiting the official convention website: http://tyrf2013.austinyr.com/
Okay, I know that was a lot, but it’s all very important stuff!  Please let me know if you have any questions, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Hutto Business Expo, and at our next meeting on June 26th!
Very Respectfully,
Kristen Smith
President
